NBN ‘devalued unit’: Park Beach property owner

RICHARD Pearson was hoping the National Broadband Network would be a selling point for his property, but he says the work to install the high-speed internet connection has, if anything, devalued his townhouse.

Soon to list his Prince St property on the market, Richard has been angered by the work of contractors, who dug trenches through a dark-coloured driveway and patched up the work with white concrete.

"They cut three different strips across the driveway for the cable and instead of matching the stencil up have thrown a bit of cement in there which after a day has cracked and looks horrible, absolutely shocking," Richard said.

Trenches for the fibre optics were also dug through a garden bed.

"They have only planted half of the trees back in the garden and the other half have just been thrown in the garden.

NBNCo is aware of the complaint.

It said staff had investigated the issue with the contractor that completed the installation.
