Netflix Australia to debut with House of Cards season three

SEASON three of House of Cards will premiere exclusively in Australia on Netflix.

The award-winning show, which stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, will be the headlining feature of the streaming video on demand service's Australian and New Zealand launch, announced this morning.

All 13 episodes of the American political drama will go live at 12.01am ADST on March 24.

But the estimated 200,000 Australians currently subscribing to Netflix in the US using VPNs already have access to the show, which debuted in America on February 27.

And Australia comes fourth on a list of countries illegally downloading the new season - behind China, the US and India - according to Excipio.

Season three sees President Underwood (Spacey) fighting to secure his legacy, but his wife Claire (Wright) wants more than just being First Lady.

House of Cards previously aired on Foxtel's Showcase channel.
