New chief for health district
ACTING chief executive of the Northern NSW Local Health District Wayne Jones has been named as the successor to long-serving chief executive Chris Crawford, who stepped down from the role late last year.
The official announcement was made yesterday morning by the acting Health secretary Elizabeth Koff.
Chair of the NNSW LHD Brian Pezzuti said in a statement he was pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Jones to the job.
Mr Jones has previously held a number of senior executive positions within the LHD, most recently chief of staff.
His qualifications include nursing, with experience in intensive care and cardiology, with a background in health management, service planning, and commissioning.
Mr Jones also has a degree in Health Services Management and is currently completing a course through the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
"I would like to acknowledge Ms Annette Symes, executive director of nursing and midwifery who has acted in the role of chief executive since January 2016," Dr Pezzuti said.
"Ms Symes, who has provided sound leadership during the past few months, will return to her role as executive director, nursing and midwifery for NNSW LHD in mid-June 2016 following her return from leave."
