New furniture store opens in Prince Street

ANDREW MacLeod has been watching Grafton for a number of years, and says now the time is right to launch his new furniture store.

"There's a new jail on the plans, a new bridge on the planning board as well, and all the highway upgrades, so there's going to be a big buzz," he said.

It's taken 12 months of work, but today is the grand opening of MacLeod's Furniture Court and Beds 'R' Us in Prince St, Grafton.

Mr MacLeod said the store is a first class retail environment for customers.

"This is the store that I've always wanted to build, the finishes and the quality of the fit out is excellent, everything is perfect," he said. "The store looks amazing and I'm sure customers will love it."

The new store will employ six locals, and feature 16000sqm of floorspace stocked with furniture and bedding popular in Mr MacLeod's Coffs Harbour stores.

"We have been servicing the Grafton area from our Coffs stores for the last 14 years and so the opportunity to give Grafton its own store, with its own range certainly makes sense," he said.

"A lot of people have said they're happy we've come here."

Mr MacLeod said with the amount of State and Federal Government investment in the area over the next few years, businesses should be attracted to Grafton's CBD.

"Hopefully other businesses will see the value in investing in Grafton during this time so that improvements in job creation and consumer confidence are sustained for many years to come," he said.
