New jobs at Iluka supermarket

ILUKA'S new IGA supermarket will create several new jobs for the township when the doors open next month.

Part owner John Schaefer said "everything was going to plan" and the new building would be in full use from October 28.

"We have about six part-time and casual positions advertised at the moment, mostly for the registers and deli," Mr Schaefer said.

He said at least two more positions would need to be filled when the liquor shop opened later in the year.

More than double the size of the existing supermarket, Mr Schaefer said he and his partners were very happy with the new 1000 sq m building.

"The builders have done a fantastic job," he said, although he admitted there had been a few minor delays but nothing out of the ordinary.

"At the moment we're building shelves inside and the first delivery of stock should arrive next week."

The old building will be demolished in November to make way for additional car parking.

During this time customers will access the new supermarket via a temporary access.
