New parking signs in Grafton

MODERN new parking signs are being erected in Prince Street from the river to Powell Street by the Grafton City Council.

The work is being carried out at the request of the Department of Motor Transport.

The work began on Tuesday. It is expected to be completed in a week. Forty-three signs are involved.

The signs give vehicle drivers explicit instructions regarding parking in the main shopping centre.

A police traffic branch spokesman said yesterday the signs were clear and of much assistance to drivers, particularly in regard to building alignments at street intersections. Taxi ranks and bus stands are also clearly defined.
