New playground a hit with students
GULMARRAD Public School’s latest playground addition is such a hit with the kids, the school has had to introduce a roster outlining which classes can play on it and when so everybody gets a turn.
For P&C president Jenn Chisholm the level of demand is a sign that their five long years of fundraising was worth it.
“We are just so excited and happy to see the kids are having fun and enjoying it,” she said.
“It’s been a really focussed effort from everyone at the P&C to get this playground equipment in so the kids can enjoy it.
“We have been buying equipment piece by piece from funds raised at various raffles and sports days and stalls, so to finally get it installed is great.”
Gulmarrad Public School principal Robyn Urquhart said the school was lucky to have a P&C that was committed to raising the money for the equipment.
“They’ve had a real boost in numbers recently which helps, and everyone working together to this one common goal to help the school is wonderful,” she said.
“It’s been a huge bonus for the school, the whole playground area has doubled in size but the equipment is the most popular spot. Climbing is important for everyone’s gross motor skills so it’s great to see them have this opportunity and enjoy this equipment.”
Ms Chisholm said the P&C’s next fundraising event will be a stall on election day at the school.
