New PM to soothe people's anger

SOUTH Korea's President has named a new prime minister and finance minister in the wake of a scandal involving President Park Geun-hye (pictured) and a friend alleged to have meddled in state affairs. Yim Jong-yong, the Financial Services Commission chair, is now finance minister and deputy PM. Kim Byong-joon is the PM, replacing Hwang Kyo-ahn. The PM's job is largely administrative. The moves are seen as an effort to soothe public anger over the scandal involving Ms Park's friend, Choi Soon-sil, who is in custody and under investigation.
