New power supply for communities

RESIDENTS between Koolkhan and Copmanhurst can expect a stronger power supply as Essential Energy prepares to start work on a major upgrade to the electricity network between the communities.

Essential Energy regional general manager North Coast, Brian Mclean, said the four year staged project would deliver a safer, more reliable and sustainable supply of power.

He said strengthening the electricity infrastructure towards Copmanhurst has always been a priority for Essential Energy.

"The project involves the construction of a new powerline along the Clarence Way from Greberts Road to Baileys Road, providing a second power feed into the area," he said.

"The new powerline link will mean fewer customers will be affected in the event of an unplanned supply interruption as power can be re-routed to a second line via the link.

Mr Mclean said Essential Energy would like to thank customers for their patience and understanding while the work is carried out.

Final work on the project will be completed in September.
