New best ranking for Urquhart

DONNA Urquhart surged three places to a career-high number 28 in the latest rankings issued by the Women's International Squash Players' Association (WISPA).

Urquhart, a product of Yamba, is about to embark on a series of tournaments in Malaysia as the women's tour begins in earnest after a prolonged break.

She was the third ranked Australian behind Toowoomba's Rachael Grinham (3) and Taree 23-year-old Kasey Brown (13).

Meanwhile, Melbourne's Melody Francis (78), Brisbane's Zoe Petrovansky (87), Sarah Cardwell of Melbourne (109) and Hobart's Maggy Marshall (116) all recorded career-highs. Malaysia's Nicol David remained world number one ahead of Dutchwoman Natalie Grinham.
