Most Australians view resources industry favourably

APN NewsdeskA NEWSPOLL of more than 1200 people has found 96% of respondents believe the mining industry is important to the economy.

The poll, published in The Australian on Wednesday, also found 69% of respondents viewed the resources industry favourably.

Among the respondents, 74% of men supported mining, while 65% of women voiced their support for the industry.

Nearly a quarter of respondents, at 23%, had an unfavourable view of mining, while 2% thought it not important to the national economy.
