No joy for Magpies in NRRRL

LOWER Clarence Magpies were flogged 60-nil by Marist Brothers in a forgettable day for the Maclean-based side at Oakes Oval in Lismore today.

Marist Brothers were too good for a depleted Lower Clarence side who looked to Reserve Grade and Under-18 players to fill the bench in the first grade NRRRL encounter.

Matters were made worse for the visitors when prop Rhys Appo was sent off for punching an opposition player in the face.

Meanwhile Cudgen Hornets survived 30 to 28 in a thriller at Casino, Evans Head continued its good fortune in 2015 with a 26-24 victory over Kyogle, Byron Bay beat Northern United 23-12 and in the northernmost local derby Murwillumbah was too good for Mullumbimby 50-12.
