No word on mystery shooting

AN elderly South Grafton couple whose house was struck by a mystery projectile that put a hole through their living room window and smashed a glass cabinet more than a month ago are still in the dark about the nature of the missile.

The couple, who do not wish to be named, said police contacted them about a week ago but said the investigators were still waiting for the results of a ballistic test.

The incident, which the couple believe may have been a drive-by shooting, occurred on the evening of February 1.

The projectile narrowly missed the elderly man who was watching television at the time of the attack.

He said he heard a loud bang at the same time as the projectile hit the window and cabinet, showering the room with shards of glass. He also believes he heard a car engine around the same time as the loud noise.

However, police played down the shooting angle, saying they were not certain if the projectile was a bullet.
