Nominate for Green Globe Awards

NOMINATIONS are now open for the 16th Green Globe Awards, for outstanding environmental achievements across NSW.

"The Green Globe Awards are NSW's biggest and most important sustainability awards, with 17 award categories covering a range of resource, business, community and individual sustainability initiatives," Environment Minister Mark Speakman said.

"This year we've added a new Residential Sustainability Award to showcase property owners, architects and builders who are creating comfortable homes that work with their environment."

Claire Hanley, a 2014 finalist in the Built Environment Sustainability - Commercial and Residential Properties award welcomed the new award.

"Being a finalist was a great opportunity to spread the word about the advantages of 'eco' renovations and it's nice to be rewarded for all the hard work too," Ms Hanley said.

In 2014, Southern Cross Resorts was a proud recipient of the highest commendation - the Premier's Award for Environmental Excellence.

"There are many reasons why an individual or organisation would consider entering the Green Globe Awards," owner Chris Denny said.

"Whether it's benchmarking your performance amongst your peers or celebrating with and recognising the achievements of your staff, supporters or customers."

The Awards will be presented at a gala night hosted by the Minister for the Environment and Heritage at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in early October.

Nominations are open until Monday, July 13. To enter your project or program, go to www. environment.nsw.gov.au/greenglobes.
