Nominate your favourite book and win

YOUR favourite book could win you an iPad2.

Clarence Valley Council Mayor Richie Williamson is asking the region's readers to nominate their favourite book, with an iPad 2 as a prize for one lucky person.

Cr Williamson is looking forward to seeing which books residents nominate as their favourite.

"Whether you read a book a week or only read occasionally, everyone has at least one book that is their favourite above all others," Cr Williamson said.

"One lucky entrant will be randomly selected to win an iPad 2 wi-fi 16GB, which allows access to the vast online world of e-books and audiobooks.

A list of the Clarence Valley's favourite books will be announced in September."

Children's Book Week is the longest running children's festival in Australia.

This year, Book Week will be celebrated from August 17-23, with the theme being Read Across the Universe.

Get Reading! is celebrated in September each year and is the nation's largest annual celebration of books and reading, which encourages Australians to pick up a book, put up their feet and get reading.

The competition runs until Friday, 23 August and is open to Clarence Valley residents only.
