Fulltime: Magpies hold on to win a thriller!! The crowd has gone berserk. The players are being mobbed. Fantastic scenes.

---------------------------------------------

78th min: MAGPIES FIELD GOAL! Grant Brown shows incredible composure to slot a field goal. Magpies 21-20. But wait ... Magpies drop the ball from restart. United have one more chance.

---------------------------------------------

70th min: Fred Waters crashes over near the posts on the back of three straight penalties. Roy Bell makes no mistake with the conversion and it's 20-all. Extra-time beckons.

---------------------------------------------

63rd min: oh dear ... Magpies drop the ball from the restart. United on the attack again. Strike that ... United have dropped the ball from the scrum. It's not pretty.

---------------------------------------------

62nd min: Lower gets a penalty right in front for a strip. Grant Brown makes no mistake and extends the Magpies' lead to 20-14.

---------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------

52nd min: surprise ... a Magpies error from the kick-off - Mikey Randall runs out of play - and United on the attack

---------------------------------------------

50th min: the Magpies manage to hold onto the ball, put put it through hands and score through Mikey Randall - his second try for the afternoon. Grant Brown's conversion sails wide and the Magpies lead 18-8. It looks a match-winning break, unless the Dirawongs can start completing sets.

---------------------------------------------

49th min: the dropathon continues. Both sides are butchering chances. No change to halftime score - Magpies lead 14-8.

---------------------------------------------

45th min: Dan Randall gets crunched by Clarence Kelly on halfway, forcing a turnover. Northern United have started the half well.

---------------------------------------------

41st min: Dallas Waters is injured and it does not look like he'll be back for the afternoon. It will interesting to see how the Magies respond without their leader.

---------------------------------------------

Halftime: A mistake-riddled opening half, with Lower leading 14-8 at the break. Both sides settled as the half wore on. If both sides can hang onto the ball, it's set up for a great second half.

---------------------------------------------

28th min: Magpies in again, this time through Don Walker. Grant Brown's conversion successful. Magpies lead 14-8.

---------------------------------------------

19th min: Magpies second-rower McLennan brought from field with leg injury.

---------------------------------------------

5th min: Grant Brown conversion unsuccessful.

---------------------------------------------

4th min: Magpies are in. Sam Woods scampers from dummy-half, takes the tackle and gets the ball over in the corner. Magpies 4-0 with kick to come.
