Old Dragon plots their downfall in World Club Series

IF WARRINGTON coach Tony Smith was going to support any team in the NRL it would be St George Illawarra.

Tomorrow morning, how-ever, he will be trying to bring about the Dragons' downfall when the teams clash in the opening match of this weekend's inaugural World Club Series in Warrington.

Smith, who played for both St George and the Illawarra Steelers before the clubs merged, admitted he still kept a close eye on the team.

He acknowledged the Dragons had plenty of strike power in the backs, including Benji Marshall (pictured), Gareth Widdop and Jason Nightingale, but said he thought his team might have an edge in the forwards.

The Wolves team includes former NRL players Roy Asotasi, Ashton Sims and Joel Monaghan.

In the other games, Wigan will host the Broncos on Sunday morning, and St Helens takes on South Sydney on Monday morning.
