One dead in house fire at Yamba

A WOMAN has died in a house fire at Yamba overnight.

Police were called to the scene about 11.30pm yesterday, after a 62-year-old woman suffered burns at her premises in the Palm Lake Resort retirement village.

She was airlifted to Brisbane Hospital but died several hours later.

Police from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command are investigating, but early indications suggest the fire was not suspicious.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
