Open day will be this Saturday

LAST Saturday the planned Open Day at the City Courts was postponed due to the inclement weather.

It will now be held this Saturday from 4pm at the City Courts in Prince Street, Grafton.

There will be a display of Cardio Tennis, which is a tennis-based fitness program, Hot Shots tennis for kids 5 to 12 and social tennis for everyone.

Free tennis giveaways and tennis tips.

Each club in the district will be represented on that day so if you wish to play Saturday competition or night or social competition in your area and need information, come along and see your local club.

Tennis NSW will be represented by the North East Region’s delegates Amanda Jones and Darren Crispin.

If you have any questions about regional tennis Amanda and Darren will be happy to help you. Hope to see you there.

The Grafton City Tennis Tuesday ladies tennis competition will commence on March 15.

Gradings for all new intending players will be on March 8 with social play available for current players.

New players are most welcome, all players must ensure their names have been submitted and any enquiries should be directed to either Wendy Danks-Brown on 6649 3061 or Chris Fussell on 6643 1575.

Names are now being taken for the 2011 Grafton District Tennis Association Saturday competition which will commence on April 2.

New or established players of all standards welcome.

There are also clubs at Waterview Heights, Ulmarra, Copmanhurst and Coutts Crossing. Form a team (five-eight players) and get names to your club by March 12.

The next MJDS is at Lismore this Sunday, entries close Wednesday night.

Tennis NSW Premier League Competition starts on March 25 at Junction Hill Tennis Courts. Grading nights will be March 11 and 18.

The Tennis NSW Premier League is the brand that encapsulates the new competition pathway for NSW.

The Premier League consists of four levels of competition structure in both City and Country regions, giving participants the opportunity to progress as representatives through these levels to the City v Country Premier League final.

This is a new competition for 2011 and is open to all tournament junior players and adults.

Players will play one singles and two doubles matches per night, 6.30-8.30pm, $5 per week for members of JHTC and $7 per week for non-members. All players must be members of Tennis NSW.
