O'Connor's half century in vain as team effort reigns

LCCA CRICKET: A dogged half century from opener Brett O'Connor was not enough for Lawrence who succumbed to a three-wicket defeat at the hands of defending premiers Wanderers in Maclean Bowling Club First Grade round six action.

O'Connor (52) was well supported further down the card by captain Luke Moloney (25) and former captain Adrian Giffin (20) as the side posted a competitive all out for 163 at Barry Watts Oval.

Wanderers opening bowler Brandon Honeybrook (2 for 14 off 8) was once again the pick of the attack taking two wickets at an impressive economy rate of 1.75.

The Wanderers bowlers shared the spoils with Dylan Causley (2 for 33 off 8), Joel Peterie (2 for 24 off 7) and Adrian Boyd (2 for 42 off 8) claiming multiple scalps.

The Wanderers run chase began in fine fashion with openers Tom Peterie (25) and Alex Robison (34) notching a half-century opening stand.

Honeybrook (33) continued to mount the pressure on Lawrence as he added and Dylan Causley (18) put on 38 for the 4th wicket.

Lawrence 15-year-old tweaker Hayden Ensbey (2-21 off 8) continued his impressive run with ball removing Dan Galloway (5) before having Causley stumped by O'Connor.

The task of bringing home the run chase was left to Wanderers' captain Joel Peterie (14no) and Kyle Roberts (10no) who clinched the win in the 35th over.
