Outrage as power failure at racecourse kills Melbourne Cup

THOUSANDS of frustrated racegoers watched the Melbourne Cup on their mobile phones at Eagle Farm racecourse this afternoon as power remains off.

Many were left in disbelief and outrage at having missed the race.

Poor mobile phone reception also threatened to keep punters from watching the race.

Punters poured out the gates at Eagle Farm racecourse just minutes before the race that stops the nation, in a desperate bid to catch the race elsewhere.
