WHEN was the last time you've done something you've never done before?

This was the theme of yesterday's Outrageous Morning Tea at The Whiddon Group in Grafton, where clients and staff got into the spirit of the occasion and celebrated Seniors Week with the community.

The Whiddon Group Grafton director of care services, Sandra Osborne, said the morning tea was the first large function they had hosted, and were pleased with the turn out.

"We like to involve our clients with the community, and thought this is one way we could be a little more involved with the Seniors Week celebrations," she said.

"We asked our staff and our clients if they wanted to dress up and get involved in the morning tea, and they did, so we've got a lot of colourful characters here today."

Ms Osborne said the theme of the Outrageous Morning Tea brought out a conversation among the residents on their memories and life experiences.

"It's actually given us something that we can work on with our activities program, even down to playing lawn bowls and things like that," she said. "We've just had the croquet people come and visit, because we can't actually get out to where they play so they offered to come to us."

Dorothy Isbester, who lives next door to The Whiddon Group, popped around to have fun and "a damn good cup of tea".

"I like to meet new people and to see everyone enjoying themselves is great," she said. "I like the celebrations of Seniors Week, there should be more of it."
