Pacific Highway reopened after two-car crash at Harwood
5.05PM: The Pacific Highway has reopened following a serious two car crash earlier today.
There are still heavy traffic conditions but they are expected to ease now the highway has reopened.
We have received reports of another Pacific Highway crash near Grafton St, Cowper.
The vehicle is in the traffic island and is not holding up traffic according to reports.
4PM: A woman has been airlifted to Lismore Hospital after a two car crash on the Pacific Highway earlier today.
Sergeant Darren Williams spoke to The Daily Examiner photographer Adam Hourigan at the scene.
Williams said witnesses had indicated the Hilux, which was travelling north, crossed to the other side of the road where it hit the Hyundai, but stressed enquiries are continuing.
The female driver of the Hyundai had to be extracted from vehicle by emergency services and was airflifted to Lismore Hospital, while her male passenger has been taken by road ambulance.
Live Traffic NSW are advising motorists travelling between Grafton and Lismore/Ballina to use the Summerland Way.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area or experience significant delays until the accident is cleared.
3.50PM: THE PACIFIC Highway is closed in both directions at Harwood near Yamba Rd following an earlier crash.
Live Traffic NSW reports the crash occured about 3pm today.
Emergency services are on scene, and The Daily Examiner understands the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter is also involved.
Motorists are urged to delay travel if possible and avoid the area.
Extremely heavy traffic conditions are expected, and lengthy delays due to the extra traffic.
The Daily Examiner understands it is the first time the Pacific Highway has been completely closed since November 28.
