FEDERAL Member for Dawson George Christensen has raised concerns the Labor Party made poor background checks on their volunteers in Mackay, as he claims to have seen a convicted paedophile at a polling booth.

"I have rocked up to a polling booth and seen a very well-known, convicted sex offender handing out how to vote cards," Mr Christensen said.

"I know it's not illegal, but I thought it was concerning."

Queensland Labor State Secretary Evan Moorhead said he was investigating the report as a matter of urgency.

"Our legal team will be looking into this soon," Mr Moorhead said.

Mr Christensen shared the news on social media.
