Palu on his way home from World Cup

WALLABIES hard man Wycliff Palu will miss the rest of the World Cup due to a hamstring injury that is more serious than first thought.

In a big blow to Australia's campaign, the 29-year-old number eight was yesterday told the extent of the damage to his hamstring was worse than first thought.

Palu strained his hamstring against the United States last Friday.

It was initially not regarded as serious but medical staff sent the Waratahs player to Christchurch yesterday for further scans.

He flies home tomorrow.
