UPDATE 2.35pm: MISSING Wollongbar girl Riley Steer has been found by police at a bus shelter at Byron Bay.

Tweed Byron Inspector Darren Steel said the 15-year-old was now at Byron Bay police station waiting for her parent to come and collect her.

Riley's father Phil, who has just made a public appeal with his wife, Deb, for Riley to phone him, said news that his daughter had been found "was such a relief".

The teenager, who went missing from her Wollongbar home on Saturday at 4.30pm, was spotted at the bus shelter about 1.20pm today.

2.17pm: THE family of missing Wollongbar girl Riley Steer still hold grave concerns for her safety and are calling for volunteers to help hand out flyers around Lismore.

Family, friends and volunteers contacted through social media will gather opposite McDonalds in Lismore at 11am before heading to CBD street corners to distribute the flyers.

Riley, 15, was last seen on Saturday about 6.30pm walking west along the Bruxner Highway toward Lismore.

Her mother, Deb Byron, said she received a text message from her daughter's phone on Sunday evening to say she was with friends.

But Mrs Byron said they were not certain Riley had sent the message.

"If she could just call us, her brothers or sisters or one of her friends to let us know she is ok," she said.

Riley is described as being of Caucasian appearance, slim build, approximately 168cm tall, long brown hair, hazel coloured eyes.

She was last seen wearing a short denim shorts, a white singlet and carrying a purple bag.

Anyone with any information about Riley is urged to call Lismore police on 6626 0599 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
