Editorial - Tuesday, October 15: Parking change a must

AFTER reverse angle parking was discussed at a council committee meeting in Maclean last Tuesday, Cr Margaret McKenna took to social media to rally support for the status quo.

Cr McKenna has made no secret of the fact she is a supporter of being backward, in terms of parking.

But I do question the appropriateness of her bandying about a figure to change the reverse angle parking to nose-in that staff described as preliminary, at best.

Cr McKenna should have waited until the idea had been properly worked through and costed instead of going about saying it will be too expensive.

Nose-in parking is easier, will reduce accidents involving shop owners' signs and verandas on Prince St and it should happen sooner rather than later.

The State Government may pay for the change making the penny pinching a moot point in any case.
