Pedestrian killed on highway

A CLARENCE Valley man has died after being hit by a car while he was walking beside the Pacific Highway yesterday.

About 5.45pm last night, a 47-year-old man was struck by a Holden sedan, while walking near Eight Mile Lane, Glenugie.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene, but he died from extensive injuries.

The driver of the sedan, a woman aged in her mid 20s, is assisting police with their investigation.

She has undergone mandatory blood and urine tests, and was not injured as a result of the collision.

Pacific Highway was closed for a number of hours, while specialist officers examined the scene, but has since re-opened.
