Peregian man lost parents on flight

AMONG the 298 people killed on flight MH17 this week were Howard and Susan Horder of Albany Creek.

The pair is linked to the Sunshine Coast through their son Matthew who lives at Peregian Springs.

When Howard and Susan (pictured) boarded the ill-fated flight MH17 in Amsterdam, they had just spent a month travelling through Ireland, visiting their son

The passenger plane was shot down on Friday morning en route to Kuala Lumpur.

Howard and Susan's sons Matthew, David and Adam Horder said they were devastated and asked for privacy.

"The family of Howard and Susan Horder would like thank our family members, friends and the public for their overwhelming support during this time," they said.

"Howard and Susan touched the hearts of many and will be missed."

Just before Howard and Susan left for their holiday a month ago, he made an ominous joke to his brother Glenn when he told him he was flying Malaysia Airlines.

"He jokingly said, 'I've only paid for one way'," Glenn Horder told the Brisbane Times on Friday.

Howard and Susan Horder, were both 63.

The Sunshine Coast Daily reported yesterday that Matthew Horder was chairman of the Sunshine Coast Sports Federation, but he is in fact the former chair.
