Man seriously injured in three vehicle crash near Mur'bah

UPDATED, 10.10am, today: THE identity of a man who was seriously injured in a crash yesterday afternoon is still unknown.

Tweed police duty officer Bill Darnell said the man, 59, suffered "significant cuts and fractures to his face".

Acting Inspector Darnell said the man was undergoing a CT scan to check his internal injuries.

He was airlifted from the Cane Rd scene to Gold Coast Hospital after his motor home was involved in a crash with a sedan and B-Double semi trailer.

Updated, 6.02pm, Monday: POLICE say a man was trapped in his motorhome for almost an hour before being freed after a crash near Murwillumbah.

The man was transported to Tweed Hospital by helicopter from the scene.

The crash between the motorhome, B-double and a sedan occurred about 3.40pm on Monday. .

The driver of the truck and a woman and child travelling in the sedan escaped injury.

Police say Tumbulgum Rd and Cane Rd are blocked and traffic will be disrupted for some hours while crime scene officers examine the scene. 

Initial report, 4.35pm, Monday: A truck and a motorhome have crashed on Cane Rd near Murwillumbah on Monday. 

There are reports a person is trapped inside the motorhome.

It is understood the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter has been sent to the scene.

Wreckage is strewn across the site of the crash and emergency services are present.
