Police appeal for help to locate missing man at Iluka

POLICE are appealing for assistance to locate an elderly man who was reported missing yesterday.

Gerardus Bakkenhoven, 88, was last seen outside his unit on Charles Street, Iluka, on Thursday.

He was reported missing by concerned neighbours who had not seen him for a few days.

Bakkenhoven is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 160-165cm tall, with a slim build, and bald with grey hair around the side and back of his head.

Police from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command have conducted patrols of the local township and beaches with no success.

Checks with local hospitals have also failed to locate him.

Officers hold concerns for Mr Bakkenhoven as he disappeared without his wallet, personal identification, and unit keys.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to come forward.
