Police catch last of Acmena escapees in Kempsey

HAVING been on the run for more than six weeks, the final escapee from the Acmena Juvenile Justice Centre is in police custody.

Hakeem Cohen was caught in Kempsey this morning.

He is the last of the detainees to be arrested after the quartet of teenagers allegedly threatened two prison officers with a knife during an escape from a transport van in Grafton on March 2.

This morning the 18 year-old was found by police hiding under a mattress after leading them on a chase through Kempsey streets for several hundred metres.
