Police catch woman not paying for items placed in pram

MACKAY police responded to a complaint of shop-stealing at a local supermarket situated in the central business district.

It is alleged that a 27-year-old female Nebo resident entered the supermarket in possession of a pram and has navigated the store placing numerous grocery items into a compartment at the back of the pram.

A loss prevention officer has observed the female pass through a cash register location without making payment for the numerous grocery items concealed in the pram.

The female was stopped by the loss prevention officer and police were contacted.

After police arrived and spoke to the female in possession of the pram, she was served with a notice to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on February 25 for the offence of stealing.

The close attention of staff, loss prevention officers (where applicable) and also the use of CCTV cameras both inside and in outside car park areas have assisted police greatly in investigating reported incidents of shop-stealing.
