Woman who allegedly 'glassed' policeman fronts court
A WOMAN, who allegedly 'glassed' a police officer in the back of the head during an ugly domestic at Park Beach will remain behind bars.
Nikita McGhie, 20, appeared in the Coffs Harbour Local Court charged with recklessly wounding a police officer while executing duty and was refused bail.
The court was told police were called to a domestic dispute in Boultwood St on Sunday about 5pm.
Ms McGhie, 20, alleged her partner, 29, was damaging their unit with a baseball bat, police said.
Two constables attended and were confronted by the man, who allegedly threatened them.
He was handcuffed and while being put in the police truck, it is alleged Ms McGhie struck one of the constables in the back of the head with a large drinking glass, causing it to shatter.
The constable was cut and received seven stitches in hospital, police said.
Ms McGhie received a cut to her hand and was taken to Coffs Harbour Health Campus where she received three stitches before being taken to the police station.
Remanded in custody, she will reappear in Coffs Harbour Local Court on November 12 via video link.
Her partner was charged with malicious damage, drug detection and resist /hinder/assault officer.
He was granted conditional bail to appear in Coffs Harbour Local Court on Monday, October 15.
