Police investigate tip truck death after two trucks collide

NEW South Wales Police are investigating the death of a man in a head-on truck crash near Wagga Wagga last night.

About 7.20pm Tuesday night, a tip-truck and a prime mover travelling in opposite directions collided on Houlaghans Creek Bridge on Coolamon Rd about 10kms north of Wagga Wagga.

A 38-year-old man, who was passenger in the tip-truck, died at the scene.

The 16-year-old female L-plate driver of the tip-truck has been taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital in a serious condition.

The other passenger, a 16-year-old male, has been airlifted to St George Hospital in a critical condition.

While the 28-year-old man driving the prime mover was not injured.

The road was closed for a number of hours while investigators from Wagga Wagga Local Area Command examined the scene.
