Police search for missing man

A SEARCH is underway of the Richmond River after a man jumped off a bridge at Coraki this morning and failed to surface.

Police were called to the bridge on Adam Street, Coraki, about 6am on Sunday 11 December 2016, by family members who reported the 22-year-old man had jumped into the river about 20 minutes earlier and had not been seen since.

Police Rescue from Lismore is co-ordinating the search which involves police from Richmond Local Area Command, the LifeSaver4 helicopter, and SES crews from Lismore and Woodburn.

The SES crews are searching the river in three boats.

A large group of family members at the scene is being assisted by local police and Salvation Army officers.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
