Pottsville teen found safe and well at Hastings Point

UPDATE, 1.28pm: POLICE have located the missing Pottsville teen Alex van Honk at 1.15pm today at Hasting's Point.

He was spotted by a member of the public and was given something to eat and drink. He has been reunited with his family and is safe.

 

UPDATE,11:48am: Police are asking the community to report information about missing Pottsville teen Alex van Honk  to Crimestoppers.

People have been posting information which may be helpful to the police on the Tweed Byron Local Area Command Facebook page. However, the page is not monitored constantly and the best way to pass on information is over the phone. 

People have reported on the Facebook page that there is an abandoned pushbike and backpack at the Wooyong bend.

Others have reported seeing Alex riding his bike on Saturday morning.

Initial police reports said Alex had been missing since yesterday. However, he has, in fact, been missing since Saturday morning.

 

UPDATE, 9.08am:  TWEED Police are still searching for a missing 16-year-old from Pottsville.

Tweed Byron LAC duty officer inspector Bobbie Cullen said police are following up leads on Alex van Honk, who went missing on the morning of October 13.

"We still haven't been able to find him," Insp Cullen said.

"We have had some sightings reported and we are following them up."

A status on the Tweed Byron LAC Facebook page about Alex's disappearance has attracted leads, although police are asking the public to call Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 or, if you sight or know where Alex is, to call 000.

 

Initial Report, 8.06pm: EXTENSIVE searches by Tweed Police for a missing Pottsville teenager have not been successful.

Alex van Honk, 16, left his Andrew Ave home in Pottsville on his BMX bike on Sunday morning, October 13 and has not been seen or heard from since.

Police from Tweed Byron Local Area Command have been searching for the teen, but have not been able to find him at this stage.

Alex is of caucasian appearance, 187cm tall, thin build, blue eyes, short blonde/brown hair and may be wearing dark track pants and a jumper.

NSW Police said there are serious concerns for Alex's welfare because the behaviour is out of character.

Anyone who has seen Alex or knows of his whereabouts is urged to contact Triple Zero.
