Police want cocaine yacht smuggling evidence from US

POLICE are seeking evidence from the United States in a drug smuggling case in which three men are accused of bringing 400kg of cocaine into Australia.

Three men - Simon Charles Golding, Holger Sander and Terrance Elfar - sat in the dock at the Brisbane Supreme Court dressed in business suits.

The three are accused of importing a commercial quantity of cocaine.

It is alleged police found the drugs on a yacht at a marina near Redcliffe, south of the Sunshine Coast, in 2010.

On Tuesday a review for an upcoming trial was held and the men's lawyers and a judge discussed final legal matters before the trial starts in a few weeks.

The court heard the prosecution was seeking evidence from the United States, which included a spreadsheet detailing communication between satellite phones.
