Positive feedback at salon
HAIR'S to a business which recently opened its doors in South Grafton.
And part-owners Melanie Hilton and Cherrie Moran firmly believe their new venture will be a cut above the rest.
Their aptly named hairdressing salon, Heir-Affiti, is set to become a permanent Skinner St fixture. And with a streak of customers already expressing positive feedback, Melanie and Cherrie are confident Heir-Affiti will attract a growing trend.
“Even before we completed the interior refurbishments people began approaching us to ask about the salon and when we would be open for business,” Melanie said.
“It's been great having so much early interest.
“Hairdressing is something I've always wanted to do and I can't describe how fantastic it is to be a part-owner of an exciting new salon.”
But Heir-Affiti is more than an exciting new salon.
It is the dream creation of two talented local women who are well and truly keeping this business in the family.
Melanie and Cherrie are cousins, their family connection and local ties serving as the perfect inspiration behind the name Heir-Affiti.
“Cherrie created the name because it represents us as cousins and relations. It's a similar take on ‘heir apparent' and I loved her suggestion straight away,” Melanie said.
“The second name is derived from the graffiti murals in South Grafton. We thought it only fitting to give our salon a name which represented us and our hometown.
“The interior design of Heir-Affiti is also inspired by the mural theme. We approached a local artist known professionally as Senow from Cheap Skate Co and he sketched and painted a fantastic feature wall at the back of our salon.
“As well as being a colourful addition to Heir-Affiti, the feature wall is noticeable to people walking past the shopfront and I think it will entice many to step inside for a closer look – and of course to check out our facilities. At Heir-Affiti, anyone of any age is welcome to step inside for a cut, colour, trim, perm or up style – men included.
“Men are free to call in anytime with no appointment necessary,” Melanie said. “We're not just here for the ladies.
“When people ask for a haircut the first thing we do at Heir-Affiti is look at their facial shape and their skin tone.
“This way we're able to select a cut and style which will best suit the individual and ensure they walk out feeling bright and cheerful with a big smile on their face.
“There's nothing like a new-do to bring back a bit of confidence.
“At Heir-Affiti you will always be greeted and attended to by friendly staff and we are able to create any hairstyle you desire.
“Regular clients will be rewarded with loyalty cards, entitling them to free cuts now and again. Spray tanning and hair and make-up packages are also available from Heir-Affiti, and we will also have in-store specials, gift card vouchers and pensioner days.
“It all begins when you step inside.”
Melanie and Cherrie are joined at Heir-Affiti by promising young hairdresser Stacey Ellis whom Melanie met four years ago while completing her apprenticeship.
“Stacey is like another cousin to Cherrie and me,” Melanie said. “She's part of the Heir-Affiti family and it's going to be a lot of fun working together.”
