Power back on for 1600 Clarence households

POWER has been restored to about 1600 homes following a power outage from the Lower Clarence to sections of Grafton.

An Essential Energy spokeswoman said most customers were without power from 6pm to 6.50pm yesterday evening.

Some sections of Grafton did not get power until after 8pm.

The spokeswoman said Essential Energy received a call that wires were down following the storm that moved through last night.

Essential energy turned off power while crews inspected the network with power restored shortly after.

Customers are reminded to stay at least eight metres away if they come across fallen powerlines.
