Grave fears for driver's unborn child after two-car crash

THERE are grave fears for the unborn child of a woman who was seriously injured in a crash in Brassall.

The 26-year-old had to be assisted from her vehicle following a two-car smash at the corner of Haig St and Vogel Rd about 8.30pm Monday.

Nearby residents reported hearing a loud bang before noticing the two vehicles side-by-side in the front yard of a house on the corner.

Firefighers were called to free the woman from the cabin and she was rushed to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in a serious condition.

The 35-year-old male driver was seen walking around after the crash, but was later taken to Ipswich Hospital with what were described by police as minor injuries.

In a bizarre twist, it later emerged that the man and woman were well-known to each other, but police are yet to establish whether the collision was coincidental or if there were other factors at play.

Police would not comment further on the relationship between the two parties.

Both the Criminal Investigation Branch and the Forensic Crash Unit are conducting further enquiries.

Anyone with further information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
