Premiers show intent to put Harwood to sword

LCCA CRICKET: Despite a rain induced match delay, Wanderers' heavy hitter Brandon Honeybrook did not miss a beat smashing 70 not out alongside opener Jack Plater (31) as the premiers notched 3-165 off their reduced 29 overs.

After Harwood sent them into bat and what was a damp track Wanderers showed their intent from the outset with opener Todd Peterie notching a quickfire 41 as he and Plater brought up a 53-run first wicket stand.

No Harwood bowler was safe from the Wanderers' bludgeoning with only Ken Richards (0 for 29 off 6) and Mitch Niemic (1 for 23 off 5) returning economy rates below five runs an over.

It was almost a tale of two pitches when play resumed after the break with Harwood struggling against a dominant Wanderers bowling attack.

Honeybrook (1 for 11 off 4) backed up his mainstay showing with the bat clinching the late wicket of Tom Littlechild and even managing to turn the ball in a rare over of leg-spin.

But it was Adrian Boyd who was the pick of the Harwood attack mesmerising the Harwood top order removing Trent Anderson (6) and a dangerous looking Geoff Simmons (20).

Power hitter Alex Robison (2 for 19 off 4) showed his handiness with the ball claiming the scalps of Ken Richards and Zac McMahon late in the innings to snuff out any chance of a Harwood rescue.

Harwood finished 56-runs short at the end of the 29th over delivering a convincing win to the defending premiers seeing them back to the top of the Maclean Bowling Club First Grade ladder.
