Property lobby's negative gearing campaign 'not a campaign'
THE property industry has launched a month-long advertising campaign against changes to negative gearing as both major parties consider changes.
The Coalition has not released any details but is understood to be considering changes to the property tax break.
Labor last week released a detailed proposal that involved abolishing negative gearing on existing properties from 2017 but current investments would not be affected.
But yesterday the Property Council began a television, newspaper and online campaign against changes.
PCA chief Ken Morrison said "lurches in policy" were risky to the industry.
Despite advertisements on three forms of national media, Mr Morrison said it was "not a campaign" and the powerful lobby group intended to "win on the strength of our argument" rather than advertising dollars.
