Airports, Centrelink, Medicare staff plan Easter strike

PUBLIC servants at airports, Centrelink and Medicare have threatened to strike at Easter if talks over a new enterprise bargaining agreement are not completed.

Thousands of staff have, through the Commonwealth Public Sector Union, threatened the 24-hour strike on Easter Monday, after two years of failed negotiations.

Staff at other departments including the Tax Office, the Bureau of Meteorology and the ABS are also threatening the industrial action.

The union said it was considering a three-week campaign of "rolling airport strikes" over the school holidays, as workers fight the government's offer of a one-year wage freeze and 2% wage rise the following year.
