Publicity Yamba doesn’t need

A THESAURUS is hardly required when searching for adjectives to describe the vicious attack on a Yamba Golf Club employee in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Cowardly, weak and mindless are just some of the words that immediately spring to mind.

Obviously there are many others, many of which would not be fit to print.

At the request of his family, The Daily Examiner chose not to publish the name of the victim injured in this unprovoked attack. However, we can reveal he is a well-respected member of the Yamba community.

It’s fair to say this nasty crime will leave a lot of people on the Lower Clarence feeling justifiably angry.

Who can blame them?

Yamba, last year voted the number one town in Australia, is on show at this time of year.

Thousands of holiday-makers are drawn to the town to enjoy its beautiful beaches and stunning views.

It’s almost unrivalled as a family tourist destination.

However, in the past month there has been a string of crimes perpetrated in Yamba, including attacks on police officers.

It’s a worrying trend, and the last thing a town highly dependent on tourism dollars needs.

Obviously, the old adage ‘any publicity is good publicity’ does not always ring true.
