Python strangles possum in Ipswich

Python's deadly squeeze caught on camera

PASSIONATE Redbank Plains QT reader Des Price has captured video of a carpet python getting the better of a possum.

Mr Price, who owns a large property on the rural outskirts of the growing suburb, caught the video on Thursday morning after hearing a scuffle involving the possum and the python - both of which had been calling his back shed home in recent months.

It seems the pair wasn't too happy living together and one of them had to go.

"I knew the possum had been camped up there for a while," he said.

"Out of the blue I heard a bit of a scuffle, then a thud as they both dropped to the ground.

"By the time I got out there the snake was already wrapped around the possum.

"I tried putting the hose on them but it didn't work."
