Brothers wary of Westlawn quicks

BROTHERS must nullify Westlawn’s fast-bowling firepower if they are a chance of claiming the Premier League title, according to the man assigned the task.

Top-order gun Andrew Lancaster says holding off the challenge of Rohan Hackett and Matt Lobsey will go a long way towards deciding Saturday’s grand final at Ellem Oval.

His words come hot on the heels of some pre-match banter between key players Jason Rainbow and Brad Robertson.

The war of words between the pair will be shared in tomorrow’s Examiner.

“It should be a good game between two top sides,” Lancaster said.

“They have a couple of quicks in Rohan Hackett and Matt Lobsey but hopefully we can nullify them. We need to bowl well and take our chances in the field.”

Lancaster also sees some prowess in the batting lineup of the Westlawn side. “It is important we dismiss BJ (Brendan Purser) and Nutsy (Brad Inmon) early,” he said.

“Our captain Brad Robertson will be a key player as a leader and with both bat and ball. I know he has been working hard on his batting this week and his bowling this season has been first-rate.”
