Quirky Jacaranda Queen hopeful
HOPING to bring a bit of quirky flair to the 2011 Jacaranda Queen Quest, Gemma Moore has put her name down to contest the title.
The 24-year-old fashion graduate is hoping to organise fund-raising events that are a little different yet appeal to a wide range of the community.
“I have a bit of experience with fashion events down in Sydney so I would love to bring a bit of that feel to the Valley,” Gemma said.
“My main reason for joining (the quest) was to organise events.
"I really get a kick out of it and am looking forward to the challenge.”
While she doesn't have any-thing set in concrete just yet, Gemma is hoping to stage a pre-July Racing Carnival fashion event and possibly organise a locally based wine tour.
“I just want to have fun events that prick people's ears up when they hear about them. Keeping things different and exciting is what I want to do,” she said.
Having grown up in Grafton, Gemma had her taste of city life while studying Fashion and Business at FBI Fashion College in Sydney and then spent a year living in Dublin, Ireland.
Gemma made the decision to move back home to be closer to her family.
“Since I have been back, I have been working retail at Mackelly's and Surface to Air and am now working at Beaches in Grafton Shoppingworld.
"It is really good being at home and with my family and friends,” she said.
In the long run, Gemma would love to combine her knowledge of fashion and business and possibly open an online boutique or go into personal styling.
