Rain dampens night of speedway excitement

RAIN robbed the Grafton Speedway crowd of what was promising to be an exciting finish to a great Saturday night's racing when a light shower of rain started falling minutes before the Speedcar feature.

With a quality field in attendance, race organisers initially started the race, in the hope that the rain would ease but the track proved to be unsafe, with cars making contact with the wall and each other in challenging conditions.

Earlier in the night, the appreciative crowd lapped up some great racing in all divisions.

The NOS Sprints made their Grafton debut and put on a great show with some exciting moments when Lismore's Mick Santin suffered an engine fire after destroying an engine.

David Santin was the feature winner from Jim Knight and Brett Aprile.

The AMCA feature saw Nick Stubbs a clear winner from Stuart Hall and Geff Hayes who put on an entertaining race for second and third place.

Matt Moore was victorious in the Limited Sprint feature race after a great drive to finish ahead of Bryan Hyatt and an ailing Steve Stubbs third.

The Juniors once again put on some fantastic racing with Brock Armstrong first in front of Ben Irons and Dallas Rose.

Lance Batchelor won the Surfers Paradise Sedan feature from Colin Morris and Drew Craft.
