Rain delays continue on sports fields

ALL sporting fields across the Clarence Valley are currently closed due to the recent wet weather.

Clarence Valley Council Works and Civil director Troy Anderson said fields were closed because they were so waterlogged from recent rain.

"With showers forecast until at least Tuesday next week, it is impossible at this stage to say when they will re-open," Anderson said.

"We'll be making a thorough inspection of the grounds tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon with a view to getting them ready on Friday for use over the weekend but we're still bound by the weather.

"As fields open again we will update our website with details. We recognise this is an inconvenience to many sport lovers and will have fields open again as soon as possible."

Sporting clubs in pre-season training should monitor council's website for up-to-date information.
